Computed Properties
Add a value to every event, user or table row: sort values into groups with a Classifier, or calculate them with a Formula.

A computed property adds one value to every event, every user or every row of a table. Vendo keeps the value up to date when new data arrives.
There are two types:
- A Classifier sorts values into groups with rules. For example, it puts traffic into marketing channels, or search terms into product categories.
- A Formula calculates a value from other properties. For example,
revenue - cost. See Formulas.
Create a computed property
- Go to Data → Computed Properties.
- Click New Property.
- In What does it describe?, select one:
- Events: one value on every event. Only event properties can be used by attribution.
- User properties: one value per person, from the Customer 360 fields. The value shows in Customer 360, customer history and audiences.
- Custom table: one value per row of a table. You select the table on the next screen.
- In How do you want to start?, select From scratch or From a template. If you select a template, select it in Template.
- Click Continue.
- Enter the Name and the Property name. The property name is the column that Vendo adds.
- In Type, select Classifier or Formula.
- Add the groups and rules (see below), or write the formula.
- Click Create property.

A template gives you groups and rules that you can change.
Groups and rules
A Classifier has a list of groups. Each group has:
- A Group name, for example “Google Ads”.
- An optional Description, what belongs in the group in plain words. AI Assisted Categorisation reads it.
- One or more condition sets. A condition set has one or more conditions.
A condition compares a property with a value. The condition types are:

Text comparisons are case-sensitive. To match “Google” and “google”, add both to an is in list condition.
For each condition set, select ALL conditions or ANY condition. For the group, select how its condition sets combine: ALL condition sets (AND) or ANY condition set (OR).
On events, a condition can apply to one event or to Any event.
Order and the catch-all group
Vendo checks the groups from top to bottom. A value goes into the first group whose rules match.
Turn on Use a catch-all group to put every value that no rule matches into one group. The default name is Other. If the catch-all group is off, those values get no value.
To delete a group, click its delete icon and confirm.
AI Assisted Categorisation
AI Assisted Categorisation puts values that no rule matches into one of your groups. It does not make new groups or rules.
- The rules always run first. The AI gets only the values that no rule matches.
- The AI gets each different value one time and keeps the answer.
- On events and raw source tables, the AI looks at the last 30 days of values.
- The AI uses your workspace’s own AI keys and credits.
Turn it on with the switch on the AI Assisted Categorisation card. Then select the Model, and add Instructions that tell the AI how to decide. Use Try a value to see the answer for one value before you save.
AI Assisted Categorisation is not available for formulas.
Preview
The Preview tab runs your unsaved rules, AI settings or formula on recent rows and shows the result next to the live value. Select Last 7 days or Last 30 days, then click Run preview. Nothing here changes any data. For user properties, the preview reads all users. The window does not apply.
For a Classifier, the preview shows how many values stay in the same group and how many move to a different group. Values that changed are shown first. You can mark values as checked.
Review
The Review tab shows how a Classifier sorts values over the last 7 days (for user properties, over all users):
- The share of values that rules, AI and the catch-all group decided.
- New values since the last week.
- Suggestions: new groups, and rules that can replace AI answers. The AI never adds a group or a rule itself. You approve or dismiss each suggestion.
- Alerts when the catch-all share goes above your limit, or when the AI spot-check agreement goes below your limit.
Formulas have no Review tab.
Where the value goes
- Events: a property on every event, in the event view.
- User properties: a column in Customer 360.
- Custom table: a column on the table’s rows.
Vendo builds the output as a view, so it always shows the current rules. A computed property runs on the pipeline graph: new data in its source updates it, and saving updates it immediately.
