Shopify to Customer.io
Send Shopify customer profiles and lifecycle events to Customer.io with stable identity mapping and observable delivery checks.

Use this workflow to power Customer.io campaigns from Shopify activity. Vendo sends known customer profiles and normalized lifecycle events through the Customer.io destination.
Before you start
- Connect Shopify and confirm that the required source data syncs.
- Create or choose the target Customer.io workspace and data pipeline source.
- Prepare the Site ID and Write Key from Customer.io.
- Choose the Shopify customer identifier for Customer.io
id: Shopify Customer ID or Email.

Customer.io events and properties documents the canonical destination payloads.
Configure the destination
- In the Vendo Shopify app, open Destinations.
- Click Add destination and click Customer.io.
- On the Tracking step, set Customer Identification and select the Client-side Events and Server-side Events to send.
- On the Credentials step, enter the Site ID and Write Key.
- If you selected server-side events, choose No historical sync or Sync historical data on the Historical Data step.
- Complete the setup.
In-app messaging
The In-app messaging tab controls Customer.io in-app messages on your storefront. The Vendo theme extension applies these settings.

- Open the In-app messaging tab of the Customer.io destination.
- Set the toggles.
- Click Save.
Audiences
The Audiences tab syncs Shopify customer segments to Customer.io. Enabled audiences update automatically every 15 minutes.
- Open the Audiences tab of the Customer.io destination.
- To create or change a segment in Shopify, click Manage segments.
- Turn on the toggle for each segment to sync.
- To sync now, click Sync enabled audiences.

Verify
- Find a test customer in Customer.io.
- Confirm the identifier, email and expected profile attributes.
- Open the activity log and confirm a recent Shopify event with the expected order ID and timestamp.
- Confirm that the event can enter the intended campaign or segment.
- Check the Vendo destination job for rejected records.
Troubleshooting
