Shopify Audiences

Sync the members of Shopify customer segments to OneSignal and Customer.io from the Audiences tab in the Vendo Shopify app.

Last reviewed September 15, 2026

Audiences is a Beta feature of the Vendo Shopify app. It sends the members of your Shopify customer segments to a destination. Vendo marks each member on the destination profile.

Audiences supports 2 destinations: OneSignal and Customer.io.

Sync a segment

  1. Connect OneSignal or Customer.io in Destinations.
  2. Open the destination.
  3. Click the Audiences tab.
  4. To create or change a segment in Shopify, click Manage segments.
  5. To load new segments, click Refresh audiences.
  6. Turn on the toggle for each segment that Vendo must sync.

When you turn on a segment, Vendo starts the first sync of that segment.

After that, Vendo syncs enabled audiences every 15 minutes. To sync all enabled audiences now, click Sync enabled audiences.

What Vendo writes

Vendo finds each member on the destination with the user ID of the store. The user ID is the email address or the Shopify customer ID.

DestinationWhat Vendo writes on each member
OneSignalThe tag shopify_segment_<id> with the value true
Customer.ioThe attribute shopify_segment_<id> with the value true

<id> is the numeric ID of the Shopify segment. Vendo also writes shopify_customer_id, and first_name and last_name when they are available. For Customer.io, Vendo also writes email.

For OneSignal, Vendo also creates a segment named Shopify: <segment name> that filters on the tag. For Customer.io, Vendo does not create a segment. Create a segment in Customer.io that filters on the attribute.

When a customer leaves the Shopify segment, Vendo clears the tag or attribute on that profile.

A member that does not have the selected user ID causes the sync to fail.

Audience status

StatusMeaning
PendingThe segment is enabled and does not have a sync result yet.
SyncingA sync is in progress.
SyncedThe last sync completed.
Sync failedThe last sync failed. The row shows the error.
PausedThe segment toggle is off.
RemovingVendo is removing the audience from the destination.
Removal failedThe removal did not complete. Click Retry removal.
Not connectedThe audience was removed from the destination.

The Recent audience runs table shows the latest 10 runs. A run is Running, Completed or Failed.

Pause or remove an audience

To pause an audience, turn off its toggle. Vendo stops future syncs for that segment. Tags and attributes from earlier syncs stay on the profiles.

Caution: Remove clears the audience tag or attribute from the member profiles on the destination.

  1. Click Remove on the audience row.
  2. Click Remove audience.

Vendo keeps the customer profiles and the Shopify segment. Vendo does not delete the OneSignal segment that it created, or a Customer.io segment that you created.
